Leech supplement!

thught id make this a touch educational - and inform you about what ive learnt about leeches so far,

there are two types, land leeches and aquatic leeches - the ones in kao sok are land leeches and they are basically like a mini slinky - they are 1-2 cm long and have a sucker at each end and teeth on only one end.

Basically they wait for the moist conditions, listen for vibrations of creatures, then wait in the grass or on leaves ready to pounce - once attatched they wander around trying to find a juicy spot to suck from - then they feed there untill there full of blood and drop off,

im still not sure how to get them off cos everyone says something different , but panicing and screaming seems like the best method to me

i know there harmless, and dont spread disease - or even cause pain - but just for the record - im pretrified of the little f*ckers!!! and i hope i never see another one again

rubbish in the jungle me, big wuss :-)

travel update

hello there,
quick update from our laundry pitstop place - Krabi ! the smelliest collective pile of clothes ever (i do mean that) has given us a forced two day stop in krabi - not a bad place, looks like theres a few things on here,

after ko tao - where was quite gettin into the old snorkelling lark apart from being scared of big fishes (i'll deal with another fear in a mo) - we headed to surat thani to get the bus to kao sok national park, its an amazing place with the humungous lake, and tree house accomm ('our jungle house' its called if anyones passin through - as yer do!) - ran by a hilarious german - called klaus!!!

so, we'd been before, but not in wet season - and that only means one thing - Leeches!
we made it about 1k into the trail before justine started shouting 'ive got a leech on me' -
of course we all paniced, but eventually justine managed to get rid of it -

then i found one on my pants, and started sync dancing and screaming before calming down and becky managed to flick it off me - while justine took a photo of the mayhem!!

then booked a lake / caving trip the next day - which was superb, cavi8ng was amazing, very deep down in the pitch black, with ropes to get us down underground waterfalls - very exciting,

then the day wouldn't be complete without justine getting another leeche - they must like the irish blood - - Dad beware!

anyways, the highlight (my highlight) of today has been the bus staions 25 baht (approx 40 pence) pad thai lunch - i love this country!!!

ok, we hangin hear for a bit and then off to the coast then over to the island of ko phi phi i think - hope everyones ok - feel free to post here and send me anything to make me smile

speak soon

PS - yes, i do feel a bit of a self improtant tosser posting all this stuff up, but its better than mailing everyone heh, and is here if anyone want to read it -

heh ho, see yer soon

Everton winning - f*ck me!!!

just had a quick chance to catch that everton didn't get battered by chelsea, and then won away from home! whats going on???

doing the best that i can !!! (for bob)

bobbersm listening to pemba (i think) today, and the 'gotta get out of my mind' tune came on that we where singing all over the bestival weekend started - and as the title of this blog suggests we got the lyrics totally wrong !!! it was 'doing the best that i can'

nice memories though - and a superb tune :-)

finally

woo hoo, bob has invited me on to my own blog !!! cheers dude!

so then, firstly a big thank you to everyone for the excellent shenanigans on my last weekend, couldn't have been better - the finale in the arts club had me grinning all night!! lovely

things here are superb, i met justine in singapore no probs and we stayed in a gorge little place called sleepy sams in the arab quarter - had a tourist singapore sling in raffles (had to be done) and kicked off our asian food tour with some lovely chinese food - covered in chillis of course

then we dodged on to malaysia, as yer do, and went to the tiomen isles - they filmed south pacific there the beaches are gorge - the first in a long line of 'ooooooh, this is just like paradise this is' comments - really need to stop saying this, we sound like shirly valentine,

so then, justine managed to do a dive there, and i set off on intrepid trek to monkey beach - one hour later, im still at the start of the trek cos i was too scared to go through the foliage (leech fear!). id even but long sleeves on, trousers, and had a big stick - then i met some ozzies in shorts and vests doing the trek so hooked up with them

moneky beach was cool, but went swimming and the monekys appeared from nowhere and took a strong interest in our bags - not sure 'a monkey stole my passport' would work at immigration though

annways, spent a few days there then went to cheratin for a bit, pretty quiet there but met some funny locals for an afternoon of beers and singing - then we headed on to the jungle

i was sooo lookin forward to the jungle trip but the old tooth started playing up and we had to leave - i was seriously tempted to use my swiss army knife to remove the bugger at 3am - but opted to wait for the dentist - 2 hours and 35 quid later - ive had fullroot canal treatment and am off on my merry way - sorted!

so from there, and via a few dodgy border towns we made it to ko tao in thailand (another.' oooooh, paradise 'moment) - rougest crossing ever - loads of people puking, but i just chugged a few 6am tinnies of chang beer to calm the nerves and was fine, actually quite enjoyed it - theres a lesson there i think :-)

so we met up with becky and chris and celebrated justines birthtday in style, found a lovely groovy bar/restaruant and loved it so much we stayed in the same spot until they kicked us out at 2am - a full on food/cocktail/beers sessions for 8 hours - 50 quid between us all - brilliant!

so we heading off the kao sok national park soon - found a place last time with treehouse accomm so gonna try get one of those, and then we off to the west and may try and learn to dive there if i can get over my fear of strange things in the sea -

okkeee, i'll stop waffling now - will try stick some pics up soon - love to hear any goss from people, feel free to post here - nice way to stay in touch

miss you alll, byeeeeeeeeeeeee

A Blog for Marc

Hello everyone.

Marc is leaving and going around the world for god knows how long.
I thought it would be an idea to start up a blog for him.
If you don't know what a blog is, it is basically a journal that is available on the web. Blogs are typically updated using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog.
In Marc's blog case, it means we can all communicate together with text and photos, rather than Marc sending individual emails that just get lost in our email inboxes, and vice versa.

Cheers

Bob
