Dubai

Can anyone recommend a decent but not hideously expensive hotel in Dubai?
Ps. let you into a confession. Friend told me the king had died and that Dubai was in mourning. I flicked around the internet to see when mourning ends etc to cut story short i ended up calling the Saudi Arabian embassy to ask what the period of mourning is. For those with Geography as good as mine, Dubai is in the United Arab Emirates not Saudi. Alas the Saudi king has also died, but a little while ago. The news reports are still on internet though. It was the Prime Minister of Dubai that dies and the mourning period is 40 days! finishes a week before we are due to go luckily. bit of a blooper there....Saudi embassy were quick polite though!!
